American Truck Simulator (ATS) fans, get ready for some exciting news! The 1.47 Open Beta patch for ATS is now available to try and test out. In this update, players will be able to haul their very own gas cisterns. This will come in a variety of lengths, chassis, and customization options. However, the in-game economy for these trailers and the list of available cargoes for them are still in a work-in-progress state. With over 50 accessories to choose from, players can personalize their gas cisterns with paintable/chrome boxes and valve covers, customizable side lamps, and a variety of hoses, fenders, and trailer paintjobs.
ATS has also introduced the world ambient sounds that make gameplay more immersive. Using sound scatter technology through FMOD for the virtual environment, players will now hear a variety of sound effects coming from different directions and distances. For example, while sitting at a rest area in the quiet Texas plains. Then you may hear the chirping of crickets at various distances, some further away and some closer. The game also features a direction filter for trucks, so when you are using a camera behind the truck, you will hear a change in sound according to that view.
Another exciting addition to the ATS 1.47 update is the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Emergency Braking System. ACC automatically adjusts the distance and speed from the vehicle in front when in cruise control mode. This is especially helpful when encountering a busy highway or situations where traffic speed is constantly changing. Coupled with ACC is the Emergency Braking System, which activates the brakes when a collision is imminent with the vehicle in front to avoid or minimize damage. These features were initially released as a hidden experimental feature in 1.44 but have been highly requested and are now available in the 1.47 update.
Additionally, ATS has introduced custom city intros for Utah and Idaho, which appear when players select a starting city when creating a new profile. These cutscenes showcase the area where players have chosen to begin and add a new level of immersion to the game. Random Road Bumps have also been added, which give the roads an imperfect feel to them. These small bumps are procedurally generated and can be felt and heard affecting the vehicle while driving. Finally, the Career History UI has been refreshed and now features a much more detailed look into playersβ statistics and progress.
