The official launch video trailer of American Truck Simulator has been posted by SCS today. Check it out! And I also have a question. Inside the video you can also hear that there are some guys talking in the background which leads me to think that there might be a CB radio included in ATS as a surprise? Probably not, but we’ll see this soon because just a few days are left!
Well, trust SCS to f*ck up the map royally. LA – a city and spawl over a 100 miles of minor cities are deemed worthy of One small area. I-5, which runs through it, is a two-lane motorway instead of the 5+ it has in some places – looks like a rural highway (no LA vibe at all). Same goes for San Francisco. I could go on about missing major cities / cargo terminals and freeways, or the huge California inspection sites (border patrol on I-5 or food inspection on I-15, and never mind all that Mojave desert that looks just wrong. Just forget about driving the mother road CA-1. Long Beach and it’s immense cargo port? Nope. Las Vegas? Despite the colorful demo pics, it’s laughable. The typical example of blowing all the good screens on a cinematic trailer.
It makes me feel humble how lucky we are to have Promods, TSM and all the other regions for ETS2. Germany’s Autobahn is by large still crap (wrong junctions), but hey, compared to stock ATS it’s paradise.
I’m not even talking about wrong speed limits on EACH interstate I’ve gone so far, won’t discuss the LAME truck selection (you can barely decide which brand you are driving inside and outside). That might be fixable.
Sorry, SCS, but creating some new prefabs and trucks doesn’t cut it. I sincerely doubt even one of your creators has been to California, else your map wouldn’t look like Europe in a draught.
Additional states as dlc’s? Well, if they are as authentic as the initials, they can keep them.
I’d like to close my rant with an ‘I’m sorry, guys’. I’m sorry that I’ve given SCS the benefit of the doubt. This is clearly a game to put aside, and come back in a year or so, if , and only if people like the promods guys have given it a serious makeover by then.
I’ve been to the Western states quite often. This is not like it.
