It’s been a long and busy year for American Truck Simulator. We have received a lot of new updates and most recently the Cabin Accessories DLC and the Colorado DLC. They’re so fresh but still we have news of a new Wyoming map expansion for ATS. Also in the news is the new light system coming both to American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2.
The new ATS light, explained
Firstly I want to say thanks to the SCS Software team for keeping this game to high standards. Secondly, let’s explore what we know so far about the new light system. We know it involves changing a lot of stuff. From textures, skyboxes, vegetation, rocks, building and vehicles. The light will be more realistic. This means that even in darker areas, in a sunny day or in a tunnel, the light needs to adjust accordingly. Also this is being done without increasing the game technical requirements by a lot.
You can see the new light in action in the announcement article of Wyoming DLC. Also if you’re interested ETS2 Iberia DLC will come with this lighting system as well. SCS informs us the teams are working hard on this new update for ATS. We cannot wait to get it. Are you excited as well? Check out the comparison photo below. We told you below the photo which is which.
The photo above is the new light and the one below is the old light.
Is there a release date?
No, there currently is no exact release date. From what we know, it might appear in the first quarter of 2021, as mentioned by SCS. A closed beta should come out in January!
In conclusion, I think the new American Truck Simulator update is worth waiting for. It will definitely change the game for the better. Currently we have some ATS graphics mods that try to make the graphics better. Stay tuned for more by following us on Facebook. Keep on trucking!
